STRUCTURE AND WRITTEN EXPRESSION

Underline the subjects once and the verb twice. Circle the prepositional phrases that come before the verb. Then indicate if the sentence are right (R) or wrong (W)

EXERCISE A

Number 9

At 1:00 in the morning the alarm clock  on
          Complement                Subject         Prepositional phrases
the table beside the bed rang. (R)
        Object            Verb

The reason why I chose the correct answer:

A good sentence should have a properly structured pattern according to the grammar. In composing a sentence, not carelessly used words arranged in a random and haphazard because it can damage the meaning of the sentence itself.
English grammar is not much different from the Indonesian grammar for the English grammar also contains elements of the following sentences:

Subject (S) + Verb (V) + Object (O) + Complement (C)

In grammar, the placement of subject, verb and object must be present in a sentence in order to be a complete sentence, especially subject and verb. Although the sentence does not have a complement, but the sentence can be a complete sentence. Because the complement is in addition to a sentence that we can use it or not.

In the sentence above, the structure of the sentence can be said correctly because it contain the main elements of a sentence like a subject (the alarm clock), verb (rang), and object (the table beside the bed) so it can be said to be a complete sentence. As well as the correct , placement of prepositions that we can see from the word "on" which is located before the object sentence.

EXERCISE B

Number  5

Pleasantly greets  everyone      in
modifier                  Verb         prepositional phrases
all the offices every morning. (W)
     object         complement

The reason why I chose the wrong answer:

I think the sentence does not have a complete whole sentences and clear because the constituent elements of the sentence was not systematically arranged so as to confuse the reader in understanding the meaning. And also in the sentence has no subject of the sentence.
